Jammin’ Champion Skewers: Overview

Win!  Prepare these versatile, delicious skewers that will delight your every guest. And if you really want to win, have your guests craft and cook the skewers themselves, resulting in delicious conviviality.

Ingredients

  • Meats, Seafood, Tofu…
  • Halloumi cheese cubes (grills beautifully)
  • Vegetables
  • Fruits
  • Hacienda Maize Fire-Roasted Chile Jammin’ Jelly
  • Olive oil
  • Skewers

Instructions

  1. Mix Hacienda Maize Fire-Roasted Chile Jammin’ Jelly 3-to-1 with olive oil (e.g. 3/4 c. jelly to 1/4 c. oil)
  2. Prepare and baste skewers
  3. Heat your grill/oven/range and coat your cooking surface lightly with olive oil (tongs, paper towels with oil)
  4. At moderately high heat, sear and caramelize your skewers
  5. Upon flipping skewer, baste again

Notes:
• Chop veggies/fruits/meats in sizes that will cook at a similar pace.  Some ingredients you may want to partially cook in advance (e.g., bacon, bell peppers, potatoes…)
• The possibilities are endless: seafood, meat, tofu, grillable cheese (halloumi), vegetables, fruits, croutons…
• Put your glazing sauce (Jammin’ Jelly and olive oil) in a condiment bottle for easy use
• If using wooden skewers, soak them in water for 1 hour before grilling
